I'd heard some bug claims about this bakery, and coming from SF, my attitude was okay, maybe it's good for Los Gatos, but...no, no, it really is worth all the hype. All I got was a banana cupcake, but wow was it good. I'm not always a huge frosting person, but the frosting was delicious. And they had so many other yummy looking treats, I'm gonna have to come by for a repeat visit. Only downsides are no indoor seating and no coffee (I love a nice cup o' joe with a pastry). But those are small matters that really aren't why anyone should or shouldn't visit a bakery. Oh and I guess the other downside is there isn't a helipad right next to it. I mean, I don't have a helicopter, or the means to own or operate one, but if there was a helipad for this place, like, I might just have to figure out how to procure a helicopter. So yeah, it's that good.

I really love the banana cupcakes at Icing on the Cake. I don't go to Los Gatos often but when I do, I love to go in for a sweet snack. The banana cupcakes are soft and moist and have delicious cream cheese frosting. I love them so much. The service is always been consistently good, in my opinion. It's always busy inside when I go. They have a lot of wonderful treats to chose from so if cupcakes are not your thing, don't worry, they have a big selection of cookies, brownies, sweet breads (eg. banana bread) and bars (eg. lemon bars). You can also order cakes ahead of time. Overall a cute store with fun decorations to buy and see and lovely treats.

Lucy helped me today and she's very nice! I found a gluten-free wheat free chocolate macaroon that is delicious! The store is so adorable and they have a lot of Christmas treats and greeting cards. They will also make any type of cake, wheat, free or gluten-free and dairy free as well so come in here and order your birthday cakes for yourself and friends too! They make dog treats as well

Icing on a cake is my favorite bakery. Their banana and cream cheese cake is my favorite and I get every year for my birthday, but what's even better than that is getting the cup cakes any other time of the year. I've tried other things. Pretty much anything with lemon and I love them all. Their Tangy Lemon loaf, to die for. I have even bought treats for my dogs while here. Something for everyone. You are always treated with a happy smile and the shop is so fun to go through. Don't ever change your recipe. I might just cry.

We had a few cupcakes from here, but someone ordered a birthday from here with caramel icing or something caramel!!!! Oh my goodness that frosting is something I've ever tasted before, incredibly yummie! They even give the option of not putting icing between cake layers for a custom birthday cake order aka "no filling," therefore it's less frosting all over! The chocolate cake was so delicious, carrot cake cupcake was yummie as well. Give this place a try if you can. They have parking in the back ally so you're not struggling for curbside street parking.

A great bakery located in Los Gatos on W Main Street/University Ave. My wife and I have been coming here off and on for years. They have street parking or parking lot in the back. Nicely decorated, yet simple. They also sell bakery accessories, etc. The customer service is nice, helpful, and friendly. Grab a number because they service by ticket numbers and get there early because they do run out of items. They are famous for their banana cake along with their banana cupcakes - moist, light, fluffy, and topped with a sweetened frosting. A must get!!! In addition, they sell whole cakes, loaves, cupcakes, cookies, etc.

Happy Birthday to my BIL and thank you to his gf for choosing Icing On The Cake!!! I've actually had this bakery bookmarked thanks to by buddy, Henry M. recommending it's infamous carrot cake w/ cream cheese frosting. While I have yet to try this specific item, I was overjoyed to learn about the custom banana cake order made for our celebratory special event. Purchase: Banana cake with cream cheese filling + buttercream frosting on the outside. [My girl doesn't play when it comes to her details in ordering being that she is a massive sweets/cakes kinda girl]. First and foremost, the cake presentation was 10/10. Honestly one of the most prettiest cakes i've seen- nothing too flashy but oh so beautiful. Secondly, the penmanship on the cake was absolutely "chef's kiss" status!! This just added to the cake's extremely pleasing aesthetics. The cake in itself was moist, fluffy, and not overly sweet if you avoid the filling and cream. Now, with that being said, I can't say this is the best banana cake I've had but it's still pretty damn good. I kind of envisioned more of a ripe, sweet, banana taste that you would typically anticipate in a banana loaf and some walnut bits thrown in there wouldn't have hurt. Walnuts could have elevated the cake's taste and given a nice contrast in textures but that's just my opinion. 4/5 stars. I wouldn't hesitate to give Icing On The Cake another go, maybe then I'll get to sink my teeth into some carrot cake.

Love this bakery so much. Just heard that Lynn, the owner has announced in late December that she is selling the bakery! I'm super sad but also happy for her and her new endeavors. I plan on visiting this bakery before it gets sold. This has been my go to bakery for cakes and cookies. My favorite is the banana cake. Do visit before it goes under new management as I know people want to tell you things won't change, but they will!
